You can’t get every pick right, but we sure got a lot of them correct last week. MY NFL DFS GPP picks went 2-2, with Geno Smith and Colston Loveland being mega hits. Justin Jefferson was a wash, but since he really wasn’t that far behind the likes of Ja’Marr and Puka, I think it’s a borderline win.
But GPP picks are inherently risky. If they miss, it’s whatever. If they hit, though, you can be in for a glorious week. I had Brock Bowers everywhere, so last week was quite friendly. Hopefully I can point you to some more strong NFL DFS tournament pivots and we can all party in the big win season channel in week 10.
With that, let’s get to four of my favorite contrarian NFL DFS plays at DraftKings this week:
Jared Goff, QB, Lions ($5.9k)
I definitely like a lot of the chalky QBs this week. Josh Allen could nuke the slate and Jaxson Dart is in the same price range as Goff and projects like a god. However, Dart is still a raw rookie (and chalky) and Allen costs $1.1k more than Goff.
Goff also has one of the best possible matchups, as he faces a beaten up Commanders team that ranks 30th against fantasy passers in 2025. Just look what Sam Darnold did to them last week:
I know the rushing floor isn’t there, but we know Goff can explode at times and this looks like one of those times – especially with Detroit ready to play angry after losing to Minnesota at home last week.
Anytime the Lions have their backs against the walls, they tend to nuke. It could always be a Gibbs game, but Goff is a direct pivot away from Dart at now ownership. I’ll take my changes in big tourneys in week 10.
J.J. McCarthy, QB, Vikings ($4.9k)
I lied. I’ll give you five NFL DFS pivots for week 10. It’s because J.J. McCarthy is just sitting her, under $5k, in a big game against the Ravens. Baltimore’s defense has admittedly been looking a lot better lately – and J.J. has displayed a less than ideal floor – but he also is insanely cheap.
In the name of Geno Smith, this is a salary play I do not mind throwing caution to the wind for. And while the Ravens are improved, on the year they’ve been a very attackable defense (24th vs QBs).
Even if the matchup isn’t what it was, you’re not paying much to find out and McCarthy isn’t chalky. He wasn’t even that good last week and he still churned out 19.9 fantasy points, too.
Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions ($8k)
Gibbs is worth mentioning again. First, all of the great RB plays are carrying ownership. I’m not going to tell you to play some assy RB just because he’s unowned.
But we know Gibbs can have a monster ceiling and we also know he and Goff can co-exist to a certain degree. Washington has been solid against the run on the year, but that team is starting to mentally check out.
Gibbs failed us last week, but he’s the type of guy we should be willing to go right back to the well for.
Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets ($6.1k)
I don’t trust Justin Fields and the Cleveland Browns have a good defense. However, Fields has proven for much of the year that he knows how to get the ball to his best WR, and if there’s a way to attack Cleveland, it’s through the air.
The Browns are stingy up front, but they’re just a middle of the pack unit against fantasy wide receivers. Wilson is coming off of an injury, but he figures to be 100% and there is going to be volume coming his way. At $6.1k, I don’t mind leaning into all of that.
Dalton Kincaid, TE, Bills ($4.3k)
Trey McBride is a beast and he joins three other tight ends that are presently soaking up a ton of ownership at tight end. Inexplicably, Dalton Kincaid is not one of them.
I don’t know what Kincaid has to do to earn our respect, as he’s quite cheap for a guy coming off a 25-point fantasy outing. Not just that, but it’s not like that was his first game this year. He has topped 14+ fantasy points four times now and he has a solid role (6+ targets in four games).
He’s been a menace.
Oh, and he faces the Dolphins, who give up the 5th most fantasy points to the position.
There, that’s five NFL DFS GPP picks you can use at DK. I will be exposed to Goff, McCarthy, and Kincaid the most. I will be eating the chalk for the most part at RB and WR. Remember, though; a list of GPP plays doesn’t mean to blindly combine them all in the same lineup. Use the ones you like. Pick your spots. And spread out your exposure.
But most of all, good luck!
