Game 6 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder brings another high-stakes NBA DFS showdown slate loaded with crazy star power, leverage opportunities, and hopefully unbiased reffing.
We can’t control what the refs do or how much OKC flips, but we can decide who we play in NBA DraftKings Showdown contests. I’ll walk you through the best plays for this slate, first checking out the top spends, then diving into the top GPP pivots and values we should be rostering. Let’s build.
Best Spurs vs. Thunder Game 6 Captain Picks
- Wemby ($19.2k)
- SGA ($18.6k)
- Stephon Castle ($12.9k)
- Chet Holmgren ($12k)
Wemby and SGA don’t need a sales pitch. They have the top two projections of the slate and the highest ceilings. I do lean Wemby since the Spurs are facing elimination and at home, however.
Per usual, I think looking to push those two to the Flex and finding the right guy at Captain to build a complete lineup make sense. You don’t just have to listen to me, though. I ran our lineup tool and the #1 lineup didn’t have either of them. Give it a spin yourself FOR FREE for 7 days.

If you are fading the top two plays in CPT, I think Castle and Chet are the first two most obvious leverage points. It doesn’t mean they’ll crush, but Castle is coming off a 45-point fantasy outing and we know he has a nice ceiling. Don’t be shocked if he’s even better tonight.
Holmgren was a conviction play for me going into last game with Jalen Williams out. He got off to a hot start and fizzled out. If OKC is going to finish this thing off, a big game out of him should be expected. I think that’s viable, but it’s not my favorite way to spend cash tonight. He ranks 4th of these 4 plays.
GPP Picks for the Captain Slot in Game 6
- De’Aaron Fox ($11.1k)
- Isaiah Hartenstein ($8.7k)
- Alex Caruso ($9.3k)
Fox is showing up in the Captain in the top EP lineup per our DFS lineup optimizer right now. He’s yet to really show a ceiling in this series, but he’s been rock solid with 31+ fantasy points in every appearance. I don’t think it’s crazy to bet on a huge game out of him with San Antonio’s season on the line at home.
If you want to go back to the Thunder, Hartenstein really stands out. He’s very cheap no matter where you want to use him and he smashed last time out (38 fantasy points). I like him again and while he will be popular in the Flex, his salary makes him a pretty interesting Captain pick.
Caruso is also interesting due to salary, as nobody wants to slide this guy into the CPT slot. But he keeps crushing, as he’s registered 27+ fantasy points in four of five games in this series. His hot shooting probably won’t continue forever, but elimination games can sometimes explode and get out of control.
Another Caruso eruption to ice the Spurs isn’t outlandish to expect.
Top Spurs vs. Thunder Value Picks for Game 6
- Jared McCain ($7.5k)
- Keldon Johnson ($6k)
- Dylan Harper ($7.2k)
I loved McCain as my top NBA DFS value pick in the Captain slot last time and he was fine with 24 fantasy points. He was good for his price, but you could have survived not putting him in the CPT slot. His price went up, so he’s not a must, but with Ajay Mitchell out again he’s going to get a lot of burn.
While McCain looks good, we do need to prepare for the possibility of San Antonio forcing a game seven. If that is going to happen, someone from the Spurs is going to pop off and fuel the victory. I doubt it’s an unknown off the bench, so I’d focus on the two main non-starters in KJ and Harper.
Champaigne was the surprise stud last game, so while that could keep happening, I’d rather take a shot on KJ producing in 15-20 minutes at a much cheaper price. I also like Harper, as he got back to 25 minutes last game. He’s been in a funk lately, but this is a pretty great time for him to snap out of it.
WCF Game 6 NBA DraftKings Showdown Strategy
My overall DraftKings Showdown strategy for game 6 will be to not Captain the top two studs and to also favor the Spurs. Most everyone will assume the NBA wants OKC to win and that they’ll close this out, but I’ll just bet the Spurs can win at home and at least get this to a seventh game.
Wemby and SGA are obviously still great CPT plays, but they’re crazy expensive. I’d rather target guys like Fox, KJ, and Harper to open things up a bit more.
Remember, if you’re not using it yet, our lineup tool is free for 7 days and it’s quite awesome. Give it a go.
