WNBA DFS fans luck out on Thursday, as they get yet another three-game slate. The bad news? Caitlin Clark won’t play tonight. She gets a day of rest after playing yesterday, and teammate Aliyah Boston is scheduled to return after sitting out Indiana’s last game.
Boston joins a star-studded slate, so she isn’t necessarily an auto-play despite CC being out. Instead, you need to consider A’ja Wilson, Alyssa Thomas, Angel Reese, and more. But what are the best WNBA DFS picks, and how do you create leverage tonight? I’ll walk you through it all and offer some strategy along the way. Let’s build!
Top WNBA DFS Picks for Thursday
- DeWanna Bonner ($7.8k)
- Alyssa Thomas ($11.6k)
- Kelsey Mitchell ($10.2k)
We need news to finalize anything. CC being out boosts all the Fever plays, and with that game having the tightest spread, we should have a good amount of interest in Indiana Plays. I’m actually a bit more interested in the Phoenix side, though, as the Mercury will benefit from the Fever’s fast pace.
Alyssa Thomas is an obvious spend, but our WNBA DFS projections really like the ancillary players like Kahleah Copper and DeWanna Bonner. With Natasha Mack out, they could get an extra boost. I am starting with Bonner, who is a lock for 30+ minutes and should have decent usage in this spot.
If you want to try our lineup tool to boost your game, give it a spin for free for 7 days. It combines projections and simulations and gets you thousands of lineups in seconds. It can also be used for other sports like MLB and MMA right now.
Alyssa Thomas should be popular, but she’s a great play in a fast-paced environment. On the other side is Kelsey Mitchell, who has been crushing as a scorer and will have the ball a ton in this same game. You can also consider Boston, but I’ll take the savings and play Mitchell instead.
If A’ja Wilson plays I am fine pivoting to her instead of Thomas. She might be a bit limited, but her immense ceiling would make her the better play.
Best WNBA Fantasy Picks for Tournaments
- Angel Reese ($11.2k)
- Dominique Malonga ($9.7k)
Reese is now as expensive as Thomas and A’ja Wilson. Assuming Wilson suits up, it’s possible Reese could have low ownership. There’s also Boston with no Clark, too. If she’s going to go overlooked, I’d be interested in her, as her path to a double-double gives her one of the best floors of the day, and also makes her an easy click when choosing WNBA player props on Thursday.
I also like Malonga for GPPs, just because her minutes have been all over the place lately. She’s not a safe play, but we know the ceiling is there. She dropped 50+ fantasy points twice in the past month, so if nobody wants to play her I’ll have a sprinkling of her.
WNBA DFS Value Plays for 7/9
- Lexie Hull ($5.7k)
- Frieda Buhner ($4.3k)
We might need starting lineups before we can safely pull the trigger on any WNBA DFS value picks tonight. Right now the cupboard is pretty bare, and it would make me way to steer clear of loading up on studs.
That said, Hull stands out as someone who should benefit from CC being out. Hull lacks an amazing ceiling, but Clark being out gives up some playmaking and perimeter shots. I prefer paying up for Mitchell, but Hull saves some cash and is in the best game of the slate.
Buhner is cheaper and grades out as a better pure points per dollar spend. She just comes in with a really low floor.
