Yesterday’s WNBA DFS slate went roughly as expected. The Sun and Valkyries put forth a disgusting display where nobody topped 29 fantasy points. Stacking the Storm vs. Tempo game (as I suggested) was The Way, whole core play residents Kiki Rice, Dominique Malonga, and Jade Melbourne were all total smashes.
Suffice to say, if you started your builds with our WNBA DFS picks, you were on your way to winning. Tonight we get another tiny 2-game slate, but we can make the best of it and win some cash. I’ll go over the 3-4 key core plays I want in most of my lineups, while also touching on some tourney pivots and the best values on the slate. Let’s build!
WNBA DFS Core Plays for Thursday, 8/27
- Breanna Stewart ($11.2k)
- Natasha Mack ($5.2k)
- Sonia Citron ($9.9k)
Alyssa Thomas is pretty pricey. Even with a suboptimal matchup, I think Stewart is the easy pick over her. You can try pairing them together, but a lack of palatable value makes that difficult.
Mack is too cheap for her projection. Phoenix looks to be shorthanded, so we should get 25+ minutes out of her at a pretty low cost. There’s some other Mercury plays to consider, but she’s easily the first click from that team.
I also have eyes for Citron. Her projection is rock solid for the slate when looking at the industry. Right now our lineup tool doesn’t love her, yet she still ranks 5th in projection. It’s just not a great slate, is the thing.
Simulations can improve DFS lineups and our tool is definitely one you’ll want to give a try. Don’t take our word for it, though. See what one of our happy users has to say about it before giving it a spin (just $7 for the first week).
WNBA DraftKings Picks for Tournaments (8/27)
- Sabrina Ionescu ($10k)
- Kiki Iriafen ($10.2k)
Stewart stands out, which means Sabrina probably won’t be very owned. I see her at just under 30% and that’s enough to get us some leverage on a two-gamer. I very much prefer Stewart and the matchup stinks, but in GPPs you couldn’t ask for a better play.
The story is similar with Kiki, who has flashed her ceiling recently. Teammate Shakira Austin will get more attention, but she’s also way more expensive. I am fine playing either of them, but for value and ownership, I do prefer Iriafen.
Thursday’s WNBA DFS Values
- Kayla Thornton ($5.1k)
- Pauline Astier ($6.2k)
- Georgia Amoore ($5.6k)
- Valeriane Ayayi ($4.4k)
The value is weak tonight. Thornton has a role and could play 22-25 minutes, so I have mild interest. You can go get Astier for $1k more, and I slightly prefer her if you can afford the difference. Satou Sabally being out locks her into 22+ minutes and makes her a solid mid-range play that may actually go overlooked a bit.
Amoore is a little cheaper and is also looking at around 25 minutes. I think all three of these options are “just fine” and do help save some cash. Mack is a better play than all of them, ownership be damned.
Ayayi is the best thing that resembles a punt on this slate, barring late news. Phoenix should be a little undermanned, so she might play 22-25 minutes in this game. Her projection and floor aren’t amazing, but she could be a nice way to open up some salary.
