The WNBA is about to take a break, but before they do we get a huge four-game WNBA DFS slate at DraftKings. We handed out some solid plays yesterday, but missing out on Kahleah Copper on a small slate was a death sentence.
Tonight you have a lot more wiggle room, as well as crazy star power. A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark are two huge names in play, and you’re going to want to load up on this slate. Who should you pay for and how can you gain leverage on the field? I’ll help you figure it out as I highlight the best WNBA DFS picks for Friday. Let’s build!
WNBA DFS Core Plays for Friday, 8/28
- Jackie Young ($10.2k)
- Caitlin Clark ($12k)
- Mai Yamamoto ($4.1k)
Clark is the top stud if A’ja Wilson (Q) can’t suit up. Wilson is a great spend if she’s in, of course, as she owns the top projection of the entire slate. If she sits, though, Clark is the play up top and Jackie Young would then be way too cheap at $10.2k.
Young is honestly great leverage on Wilson even if she’s in, so she will be on my radar one way or another. Angel Reese is right up there with these ladies and could be solid leverage on either Wilson or Clark, depending on news.
Yamamoto projects for 20 minutes tonight and she could quickly turn into a much better play. Wilson’s status is the big domino that needs to fall, but Dana Evans is also iffy and we know NaLyssa Smith won’t play.
This is a great foundation to build on, but we need news.

WNBA DraftKings Picks for GPPs (8/28)
- Aliyah Boston ($11.2k)
- Kelsey Mitchell ($10.4k)
- Shakira Austin ($11k)
Boston and Mitchell are both good tourney plays to get leverage on CC if you plan on fading her. Indiana plays fast and scores a ton, of course, so you could also just pair either of them with Clark. Neither should be that owned.
Austin is an interesting stud that won’t be popular. There are five ladies ahead of her in projection, and that plus the fact that she’s $11k will keep her ownership curbed. She actually projects well, though, so in tourneys I’d go out of my way to target her instead of blindly turning from A’ja/Clark to Angel Reese.
Friday’s WNBA DFS Values
- Cheyenne Parker-Tyus ($3.8k)
- Jewell Loyd ($5.2k)
- Madina Okot ($5.4k)
- Kiana Williams ($3.2k)
The Aces could be without several bigs. That has me on Yamamoto, but it’d also put Parker-Tyus in play. Both look fine as punts even as things stand, but the more Las Vegas players that sit out, the better they’ll look.
Loyd is incredibly hit or miss, but she’d get a usage and perhaps a minutes boost if Wilson is out, too.
Okot could benefit from the Dream missing some key bodies. Atlanta tends to just give most of the minutes to their main players, but with both DeWanna Bonner and Brionna James out, Okot could benefit. Hate the price, but the role could be worth a look.
My favorite punt of the slate is Kiana Williams. Toronto’s injury report is long and they may not be able to keep up with Las Vegas even if A’ja is ruled out. Williams already projects for 15 minutes, but she could get more and is worth a dice roll.
