WNBA DraftKings Picks – Top Plays & Values for Thursday (7/2)

wnba dfs picks wednesday 7/2

Looking to build winning WNBA DFS lineups on DraftKings? You’ve come to the right place. Below, I’m breaking down the best WNBA DFS picks for Thursday’s slate, including my favorite spend-ups, top value plays, GPP pivots, and the best game to stack so you can build lineups with both upside and leverage.

Whether you’re chasing a big tournament score or looking for a strong cash-game foundation, these are the players and game environments I’m targeting based on matchup, opportunity, and ceiling. Let’s dive into the slate and find some winners. Let’s build!

Top WNBA Core Plays for Thursday

  • Alyssa Thomas ($11k)
  • Flau’jae Johnson ($9k)

I am going to stop short of a full three-lady WNBA Core for two reasons. First, there’s a lot to pay up for up top on this slate. There’s no A’ja Wilson, but there are 5-6 legit spends here that look quite strong.

Ownership is going to play a hand in where I land, while available value will also be very important. The core could change depending on final injury news and starting lineups, so keep an eye out for updates.

Right now, though, Alyssa Thomas looks like the top stud to build around. Paige Bueckers currently projects slightly better per our WNBA DFS lineup tool, but they are very close and cost almost the same. I like both a lot, but lean toward Thomas due to her versatility.

Johnson is probably my favorite WNBA DFS pick of the slate, and she also makes the cut in our top WNBA player props today. She gives me stacking correlation with Thomas, and she is way too cheap for the run she’s been on. The rookie has dropped 36+ fantasy points in three consecutive outings, with 48+ in two in a row. I also love Malonga in this mini stack, but I’m starting my builds with Johnson and betting she stays hot.

Thursday’s WNBA DFS Value Picks

  • Maddy Siegrist ($4.3k)
  • Alicia Florez ($4.4k)
  • Isobel Borlase ($4.2k)

If I had to force in a third WNBA DFS Core Play, it’d be Florez. She projects to benefit immensely if Washington is without two key guards. She played 34 minutes in her last game and churned out 28 fantasy points. Her game also has the biggest spread, so she may honestly be a great value no matter what. I’d prefer Washington to be without one or both of Sonia Criton and Georgia Amoore, though.

Alanna Smith may sit this one out, so that’d open up more minutes for Maddy Siegrist. Her ceiling isn’t amazing, but she’s just as cheap as Florez. She could be a pretty epic pivot if you wanted to fade what could be a chalky Florez. In a similar manner, I’d really need Smith to be out to love this play.

Borlase is a value pick our WNBA DFS projections are liking. The tool has her in the #1 lineup. That tells me more about the slate – in that we will likely need someone in this price range – more than it says Borlase is some amazing play.

That said, Borlase has a pretty consistent role and she could get extended burn if Atlanta (the biggest favorite of the slate) wins easily. A chance to push for 20 minutes does exist here.

Top WNBA DFS GPP Picks for 7/2

  • Kiki Iriafen ($10.5k)
  • Kahleah Copper ($8.8k)

The Atlanta game is the first one I’m tentatively ignoring. Angel Reese is a really good spend up, but her game has the biggest point spread and it could be over early. If true, Reese will struggle to hit her ceiling.

However, these things don’t always go as expected. If Washington flips the script, someone like Iriafen could soak up extra usage and end up nuking the slate at low ownership. Keep an eye on the Mystics injury report, as Citron sitting out would guarantee extra usage, and then you’d just need Washington to not get blown out.

Shakira Austin is also in play with that logic, and she’s considerably cheaper. But if we’re attacking upside here, Iriafen is the play. I probably would not go this route unless I am also playing Reese and playing for this game to be much closer than expected, of course.

Most of the top spends should garner ownership to some degree. Copper is not a stud and is under $9k, but due to the money flocking to the best plays, she’s bound to get overlooked. The return of Alyssa Thomas cuts into her usage and ceiling, but that’s also a big reason why nobody will be playing her.

Copper still played 30+ minutes in close games and has been looking great with 33+ fantasy points in three of her last four games. She is not a priority for me, but she’s a decent way to get different without sacrificing floor on this slate.

Top WNBA DFS Game to Stack on Thursday

  • Phoenix vs. Seattle (5-point spread and 166.7 game total)

The Mercury vs. Storm matchup stands out as the premier game stack on Thursday’s DraftKings slate. It carries one of the highest projected totals of the night at around 167.5 points, with a competitive spread that should keep both teams’ starters on the floor deep into the fourth quarter.

From a DFS perspective, both teams offer multiple high-upside fantasy producers and plenty of correlation. Phoenix leans heavily on its stars, while Seattle has several players capable of stuffing the stat sheet across points, rebounds, and assists. If this game turns into the back-and-forth affair the betting market expects, it has the clearest path to producing multiple tournament-winning scores in the same lineup.
