NBA DFS Picks – Core Plays for Monday (3/2)

best nba dfs picks monday

I did a video for today and literally one minute after I downloaded it, news broke for the Celtics. You can still check the video out for my take on everything else, but the Boston stuff is #large.

Jokic is on this slate and there are actually a few guys to prioritize, but we’ll obviously want some exposure to the Celtics. Let’s see who makes the cut in my top NBA DFS picks for Monday night at DraftKings.

NBA DFS Core Plays

  • Nikola Vucevic ($6.2k)
  • Payton Pritchard ($7.2k)
  • Reed Sheppard ($5.7k)

FanDuel Core Plays are no more. I’m doing this by myself now, so I don’t have time to cover both. You can still apply this to FD to a certain extent.

Boston ruined or made this slate, depending on how you look at it. Vuc, Pritchard, and Derrick White are now fantastic plays with both Jaylen Brown and Neemias Queta ruled out. You can even go deeper with Celtic value like Hauser and Scheierman. Heck, even Rony Harper Jr. projects for 28 minutes!

For now, Vuc is just way too cheap if he’s going to get all the center minutes. Pritchard is also $1k cheaper than White and projects about the same. Easy call for me. Up to you if you want to also cram in White or play the values.

Sheppard is once again a strong value. Perhaps you’ll find him not as appealing with other value out there, but I see no reason not to play him in a smash spot against the Wizards.

Best Games for NBA DFS Stacking

None! Honestly, these games mostly suck. The Washington and Jazz games in theory represent the best spots to load up, but that’s mostly one-sided and it isn’t like the best plays there are cheap.

True stacking is two-sided in NBA, and I don’t think I can advocate for forcing Wizards and Jazz. I think some of their plays are fine, but those games are likely housings waiting to happen.

The most stackable game may now by the Bucks vs. Celtics. That said, the return of Giannis puts a sizable dent in the ceiling of guys like Rollins and KPJ who suddenly have inflated salaries.

Best NBA DFS Spends

  • Jokic ($12.5k)
  • Kawhi ($9.5k)
  • Sengun ($9.4k)
  • Jamal Murray ($8.8k)

KD looks good and you can consider Derrick White a spend technically. I don’t think we can pay for a limited Giannis, though, so our options are a bit limited.

I think Jamal Murray may be the best GPP spend of the entire slate. There’s going to be a ton of attention of Celtics guys and Jokic, plus the Rockets will likely get more ownership than him. Murray is just going to go way overlooked and I think I’ll take advantage of that and hope for the best.

Fading Jokic on a 4 game slate is probably a poor decision, but I might do it anyways. The reality is that a blowout is pretty likely against the Jazz and getting to Jokic means sacrificing a lot of really good plays.

I think something like the core + Sengun/Jamal is pretty damn interesting in tournaments. Obviously in cash games and SE I’d lean toward just stuffing Jokic’s raw point body into my lineups.
