The WNBA looks to compete with the World Cup on Friday, but they’re doing the smart thing and only putting two games on the schedule. It’s not a super exciting slate, but two games is better than none, and there’s still money to be made at DraftKings.
The stars are not coming out for this one, as Brittney Sykes is the top option in terms of price and ceiling, and there simply are no other heavy-hitters to get amped about. I’ll point you to the ladies you will want in your WNBA DFS lineups, however, while also highlighting some value WNBA DFS picks. Let’s build!
Top WNBA DFS Picks for Friday
- Kayla Thornton ($7.8k)
- Shakira Austin ($10.1k)
- Veronica Burton ($9.7k)
Brittney Sykes is OK, but I don’t think we need to chase her on this tiny slate. We can play Burton instead, as she has a better projection and is way cheaper. She grades out as the second best projecting player currently and by salary she feels like the top overall spend.
Our lineup tool also has her landing in the #1 lineup out of 1,000 lineups, too.

This may not be a slate where we need to force the most expensive players into our WNBA DraftKings lineups. Instead, we can go get another elite mid-range option in Thornton. She’s playing huge minutes lately (34+ in two in a row) and is doing enough (23+ fantasy points in 4 of 5) to keep me interested.
Lastly, we have Shakira Austin, who is coming off a big 34-minute game. She’s been steady with 24+ fantasy points in six straight games, while she’s exhibited some upside with games of 34, 41, and 44 fantasy points during that stretch. She’s pricey, but our lineup tools grades her out as a better spend compared to someone like Brittney Sykes, who could be very popular.
Friday’s WNBA DFS Value Picks
- Cotie McMahon ($4.7k)
- Michaela Onyenwere ($5k)
Potentially my top WNBA DFS sleeper for this slate is McMahon, as Toronto has Kiki Iriafen and Nyara Sabally both listed as questionable. McMahon has logged 14+ minutes in three straight games and could be a total smash if either of those ladies sit this one out.
Another really appealing value pick could be Onyenwere, who gets super steady minutes. She’s played 20+ minutes in five straight games and has topped 20+ fantasy points three times during that stretch. Her floor is admittedly absurdly low, but a role like this at this price is not easy to come by on a small slate – plus she’s in the best game of the day.
Top WNBA DFS GPP Pick for Friday
- Dominique Malonga ($8.2k)
- Awa Fam ($7.5k)
Like I said, I think a lot of people will race and go play someone like Sykes. Nothing wrong with that, but our system is actually pretty low on her. It’s also not very high on Malonga, but for good reason, as she’s only been back from injury for three games.
That said, Malonga did log 24 minutes in her last game and we know she can be a force on the glass and with her shot-blocking. Due to her seemingly limited minutes and price, my guess is she won’t be owned, and I plan on capitalizing on that.
Fam continues to draw starts for Seattle and the rookie has played well, logging 30+ minutes in four of five games and topping 20+ fantasy points in four of those games as well. She looks like the best overall value of the slate, coming in with a terrific projection per our lineup tool.
Top WNBA DFS Game to Stack on 6/12
- Washington vs. Toronto (2-point spread, 168 game total)
Friday’s WNBA DFS slate is just two games, and there’s one clear winner. The game between the Toronto Tempo and the Washington Mystics is a fun one, as the total is pushing 170 points and it’s projected to be rather close.
Toronto has been the better team at 7-5, but they’re not quite as good on the road and they give up 89 points per game (3rd most). Look for this to be a fast-paced game with plenty of scoring. You can definitely leverage the interest here by stacking the other game, but this one looks the best.
