Welcome to another fun NBA DFS slate. Wednesday already promises to be awesome (awful?) with a ton of injury news already dropped or expected to come later in the day.
We know for sure Wemby and half the Timberwolves roster isn’t playing, so there is plenty of value to work with. However, there are definitely a few popular plays I’m not totally sold on, while there are some interesting plays that are naturally going overlooked.
Here’s a quick breakdown of both sides. For the must-have pieces for Wednesday, check out my NBA DFS Core Plays.
Fades & Values
📉 Fades — Overvalued Players
-
#1
Nikola Jokic
Very expensive in a game with a 20-point spread.
-
#2
Ousmane Dieng
Rollins is back, he’s not cheap, and faces elite defense on the road.
📈 Values — Undervalued Players
-
#1
Cooper Flagg
Elite ceiling, motivated to play big minutes in pursuit of ROY award.
-
#2
Donovan Clingan
Unowned with high ceiling in better than advertised matchup with no Wemby.
This doesn’t mean I won’t be playing Jokic and Dieng at all. Full fades are always risky, unless you play one lineup in one contest.
My advice is to definitely get to Jokic a decent amount, but given the blowout risk being much more likely for Denver’s game than some other spots, it feels like a logical spot to go away from the public.
Dieng is versatile enough with enough usage to make me look silly, but Ryan Rollins will cut into his ceiling. He simply isn’t cheap enough for this spot to be an auto play, while he’s a bit more owned than I’d prefer if I am rostering him.
As for Flagg and Clingan, they look like killer GPP plays. Deni is going to command for attention that Flagg at a similar price point, while Clingan has a way better matchup than anyone realizes.
Going lighter than the field on Jokic/Dieng and over the field on Flagg/Clingan (or one or the other) could be great approaches to differentiate your NBA DFS lineups on Wednesday.
