After a break from DFS over the weekend, I am back to hand out some winning picks for the two-game WNBA DFS slate on Monday.
Both games available to us are pretty bad, as we’re dealing with 10.5 and 11-point spreads. Both games do have solid game totals (164+), however, while the New York Liberty get Sabrina Ionescu back in the saddle after she missed the last game.
New York was completely lost without her offensively, but with her return, they’re huge favorites at home. So, who makes my list of top WNBA DFS picks for Monday? Let’s get to it.
A’ja Wilson, F, Las Vegas Aces ($14k)
I think if the slate were bigger I’d be more than fine with fading Wilson at her now egregious $14k salary. We are accustomed to her being expensive, but she’s typically $12-$13k, not $14k.
Wilson has mostly been worth the price of admission, though, as she dropped 62 fantasy points last game and has notched 52+ in six of her last seven. On such a small slate, fade her at your own risk.
Jewell Lloyd, G, Las Vegas Aces ($7k)
This slate admittedly blows, but Lloyd does get solid burn (25+ minutes in every game since August 3rd) and she grades out as the 2nd best P/$ play of the day.
The floor is typically solid, even though the ceiling isn’t amazing. I am just paying for 25-30 minutes for a player who is discounted on a tiny slate.
Marina Mabrey, G, Connecticut Sun ($9.5k)
After Wilson it’s pretty bleak on this slate, so Mabrey definitely stands out with a salary under $10k and her projection being on par with or better than six other ladies priced north of her.
We know Mabrey has an awesome role (35+ minutes in each of her last five games) and she offers a ceiling (41 fantasy points last game) so on a small slate like this, she feels like an easy click.
In general, this slate feels bad for studs. Breanna Stewart could return, which puts a damper on Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. NYL are also expected to dominate, so none of their top players project for even 30 minutes, which could cap their upside.
If they’re going to be low-owned, though, I’ll definitely have a lot of interest in the Liberty – as well as stacking that game.
FanDuel Core
- Lloyd
- Mabrey
- Reese
Mabrey and Lloyd stay in the core, but I’d definitely take a risk and be under-weight on Wilson on FD. The price gap between her and the next level of options is massive on both sites, but you need an extra player on FD, so it is worse there.
Given the small slate size and lack of value, paying for Wilson here is a lot tougher. I would still get to her a ton if entering multiple lineups, but having the likes of Reese, Cardoso, Jones, and Ionescu being your top targets feels a lot better over there.
