A solid three-game WNBA slate is upon us. Yesterday’s WNBA DFS picks were solid, but you were disappointed if you paid for A’ja Wilson. She was fine (41 fps), but given her ownership and price, you needed more.
It’s a new slate, so let’s see who stands out and makes the cut in Friday’s WNBA core:
Paige Bueckers, G, Dallas Wings ($11.7k)
Dallas continues to be severely banged up. Arike Ogunbowale is the big absence, as she is still sidelined. You also need to factor in JJ Quinerley’s injury, as she also won’t be able to suit up for this contest.
Naturally, Bueckers will have to continue to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the Wings. She was fine with that in her last game, of course, when she dropped a career-high 44 points.
I don’t demand that again, but Bueckers is too cheap for her role and ceiling. She comes into the slate trailing Alyssa Thomas by just two fantasy points for the best projection of the slate. She’s a smash play.
Satou Sabally, F, Phoenix Mercury ($9.5k)
Sabally was part of the core last night and failed (21 fps in 25 minutes) but I am willing to go back to the well again. Her minutes were limited thanks to a 22-point blowout loss, so if her game with Golden State can stay close, I like her chances to deliver.
Alyssa Thomas is the more fun play, but you save over $3k with Sabally, who is still a key contributor and comes into the night with the 5th best projection of the slate. In fact, she’s the cheapest option within the top 10 players in terms of projection, and yet offers more bang for her buck by comparison.
Luisa Geiselsoder, F, Dallas Wings ($6.7k)
Grace Berger and other Dallas values are going to be in play just because they’re cheap and the Wings are shorthanded, but Luisa is the better play.
She’s under $7k despite notching 36 minutes last game, and I want that type of role at this low price. She also comes in with a solid 24-point fantasy projection, with the only problem being her potential ownership.
Berger is a fine option if you want to save even more cash, while other lower mid-range plays like Hines-Allen and Odyssey Sims also look good.
FanDuel Core
Alyssa Thomas is $8.2k at FD, so Bueckers is the easy call over there for me, too. I think both are viable together on DK, but pricing keeps that less viable on FanDuel.
I’d also keep Geiselsoder ($5.1k) in my core there, but Sabally isn’t as obvious of a value there. She is still very much in play, but you could argue for Kelsey Mitchell above her at just $500 more. Pivots like Diggins and Burton (both cheaper) would also be viable.
