The DFS Build

Where Winning Lineups Are Built.

WNBA DFS Picks & Advice – Tuesday (9/9/2025)

Basketball court

I know it is officially football season and WNBA DFS is likely dead to us all, but Tuesday brings forth a massive five-game slate. And hey, with no football coming until Thursday night, we might as well see if we can win some cash building some WNBA DFS lineups over at DraftKings.

But where to start? This is the most games we ever get, and it comes with good and bad. On one hand, we should have enough value to do whatever we want. On the other, the possibilities are endless, which makes narrowing down a lineup we like extra difficult.

This definitely shapes up to be a good night for multi-entry, but before you begin your process, I’ll point you to my top WNBA DFS picks for the slate.

Alyssa Thomas, F, Mercury ($13.5k)

On a five-game slate you can play with fire and fade both A’ja Wilson and Alyssa Thomas, but you need raw points from someone. Aliyah Boston is pushing $13k and Napheesa Collier is out, so you probably need one of these ladies.

Wilson still projects better and has a higher ceiling than anyone else on then slate, but $15k is an astronomical price. I will gladly take Alyssa Thomas for $1.5k less and build around a triple-double machine.

Thomas can match Wilson and she has an elite floor due to her do-it-all style. She’s reached 41+ fantasy points safely in 7 of her last 8 games and comes in as the only other option with a projection over 40 fantasy points (just 2 behind Wilson).

Jessica Shepard, F, Lynx ($6.8k)

Minnesota is going to be a really good source of mid-range value, as the Lynx will be without stud forward Napheesa Collier on Tuesday.

This opens up a ton of usage for all Minnesota players. Courtney Williams is technically in play, but she is very pricey for her projection. I would much rather drop down to the likes of Shepard, Alanna Smith, and Kayla McBride – all of which look like phenomenal plays.

You can make a pretty solid case for all three, but Shepard gives you the most bang for your buck, as she’s about $500-$1k cheaper than her teammates and projects similarly. I really don’t mind playing all three, but she’s the first one I’ll be clicking.

Dearica Hamby, F, Sparks ($10.9k)

I am going back and forth between Hamby and Breanna Stewart. They’re both about the same price and project virtually the same, so it will come down to ownership and the status of Kelsey Plum.

Sabrina Ionescu should be active, so her presence hurts Stewart’s ceiling and also makes it more likely that the Liberty win via blowout. Plum is also Q for the Sparks.

If she misses this one, L.A. will need Hamby more for her offense, which would make a her a smash play even at an elevated price tag. That would also probably make her more popular than Stewart, so there would be a strong case to pivot to a suddenly lesser owned Stewart.

That said, Hamby would be the better play, ownership be damned.

FanDuel WNBA Core Plays

  • Alanna Smith
  • Kayla McBride
  • Stewart/Hamby

You need to fill an extra roster spot on FanDuel, so I am game for fading both of the top studs over there. Once again, if I had to pay for one, it’d be Alyssa Thomas, who is the better P/$ player on FD over Wilson (and is cheaper).

But I prefer going more balanced there, especially since Alanna Smith and Kayla Mcbride are cheaper and both Hamby/Stewart are under $8k. I think you can pair them together, too, while it’s worth noting that if Plum does suit up, she is pretty interesting as well.
