Hello! Today is Monday, and tomorrow is a holiday. I don’t have work tomorrow because of Veterans Day, so I’ll have a weird little midweek holiday. Weird vibes, but I will take it.
We’re looking at full slates of NBA action on both sites. As usual, the slates are different, as FD is including the late-night ATL-LAC matchup that DK decided to omit. Here are the fellas I’m building around.
DraftKings (Updated at 6:30 PM ET)
- Jalen Duren ($7,700)
- Ayo Dosunmu ($4,200)
- Anthony Edwards ($8,600)
- Ronald Holland II ($4,300)
For such a large slate, the cheap value is a little dicey. The Pistons will be down Tobias Harris and Isaiah Stewart again tonight, which should mean a second straight start for Ronald Holland II. Detroit also has Ausar Thompson and Caris LeVert carrying Q tags into this matchup against Washington, so there’s the potential for even more playing time to trickle Holland’s way.
He’s not a great per-minute guy or someone who’ll typically generate a ton of usage, but a matchup with the Wiz is good for a hustle/energy guy. If something better pops up, Holland will likely be the first guy excised from the core. For now, he’s fine, I’m just concerned about Ron Holland II generating significant ownership.
Speaking of Pistons, how bout that Jalen Duren? He’s breaking out in a big way this season, averaging a career-best 1.47 FP/minute. He now gets to feast on a Wizards frontcourt we’ve been picking on for at least a decade now. He’s another guy who will be significant chalk – which creates some very valuable high-upside pivots at the limited center spot – but he’s a great play in a vacuum. And outside of a vacuum.
There are a lot of stars on this slate, but Anthony Edwards is the one who looks wildly underpriced at $8,600. He hasn’t played 30 minutes in a game since returning from a hamstring injury, but that’s because the Wolves have been destroying everybody. I suppose there’s risk of another destruction tonight considering they blitzed this same Jazz team by 40 points mere days ago, but this game in Utah only has a 6.5-point spread. Gimme all of this.
FanDuel (Updated 6:30 PM ET)
- Jalen Duren ($8,100)
- Anthony Edwards ($9,600)
- Tre Jones ($5,700)
Isaiah Collier started over Taylor Hendricks in the last game and wound up logging 26-27 minutes. He’s not a high-usage guy, but he was a decent per-minute producer last season. This is a salary thing. Collier is only $4,200 on FD, so he provides useful savings on a slate without a ton of other stuff to like on the low end.
Edwards is a better value on DK, but I still love targeting this game environment even at the more expensive FD price point.
