Week 12 wraps up with a less then stellar Monday Night Football matchup, with the Carolina Panthers invading the Bay Area to battle the San Francisco 49ers.
The Niners are getting healthy at the right time and Bryce Young is coming off an insane 448-yard outing, so we’re left to wonder if he has finally figured it out or not.
This game has a hefty 7-point spread, but also a nice 49.5 total. It’s a solid DFS spot, so let’s take a look at the DraftKings showdown slate and see how we want to build our lineups.
Top MNF DFS Picks for the Captain Slot
- Christian McCaffrey
- Rico Dowdle
- Brock Purdy
- Tet McMillan
These are the best MNF DFS picks if you want both stability and ceiling in the CPT slot. CMac is the best play on the board by miles, with the only issue being ownership. If doing one lineup, he’s the play. If doing several, he’s more often than not still the guy.
Dowdle is the preferred pivot. He does get you some leveraqe, as he will be not even half as owned. He projects significantly worse, but you could get away with him in the Captain and just move CMac to Flex.
Purdy is pulling the second most ownership and has the second best projection. The 49ers are home favorites in a fairly friendly spot, so I don’t hate it. I’m much more into the idea of eating McCaffrey chalk than Purdy chalk, however.
Naturally, I’d go Dowdle over Purdy. Dowdle has a huge role, has topped 15+ fantasy points in five of his last seven games, and gets an overrated 49ers defense that has been a middle of the pack unit against RBs.
Tet is in play due to ceiling. He’s coming in a little more owned than Rico, but Dowdle feels like the safer play with higher upside. The fact that he might be less owned makes it an easy call for me. That said, Tet finally went off last time out (36 fantasy points) and San Fran is the 4th worst defense against fantasy receivers.
Best MNF DFS GPP Picks
- Bryce Young
- George Kittle
- Ricky Pearsall
- Jalen Coker
- Ja’Tavion Sanders
I don’t want to completely ignore someone like Jauan Jennings, but he’s pulling a decent amount of ownership. I’ll be taking a stand and fading him in favor of Kittle and Pearsall – two guys who aren’t that much more expensive, project similarly, and will likely go overlooked.
Kittle is in a smash spot and has been wrecking. He has 23 and 24 fantasy points over his last two games and the Panthers rank 22nd against tight ends.
Pearsall is even more interesting in terms of ownership. Nobody is going to play him due to the 49ers being healthy and him doing absolutely nothing last week. At no ownership, I love the idea of being over the field on him.
Coker is cheap exposure to the Panthers in the event they are playing catch up late. Xavier Legette is a bit too inconsistent to get excited about, so I’d rather pay $3.6k less and see if I can load up in the Flex. Coker has been involved and had a solid 11 fantasy points last game.
The entire Panthers passing attack is viable, though, so what figures to be an unowned Bryce Young is extremely appealing. He is coming off an absurd 36-point fantasy performance and he may need to air it out again tonight. Carolina is a touchdown underdog, while the Niners rank 31st against fantasy QBs over the last four weeks.
Sanders isn’t the worst punt, either. He’s been involved lately and the 49ers are the 6th worst defense at stopping tight ends over the last four weeks.
I think McCaffrey is obviously the easiest click of the slate. If you eat the chalk, just prepare to go way over-weight on a couple of the Panthers passing game options. You can also gain instant leverage with virtually anyone not named McCaffrey.
