Yesterday’s NBA Core was fantastic. The problem? Every chalk play hit. I had scores over 300 and didn’t even cash. T’was a brutal slate, and I also had a lot of Deni and he didn’t even get 40 despite being 10% owned.
Hopefully you found some success. It’s onward and upward we go into Wednesday’s slate, which is a huge 9-gamer. I will probably play pretty light after last night’s debacle, but I’ll get you started off on the right foot with the key NBA DFS picks you need to build around at DraftKings and FanDuel.
DraftKings NBA DFS Core Plays
- Steph Curry ($9k)
- Kon Knueppel ($6.2k)
- Brandon Williams ($4.9k)
Update: Flagg/Klay are OUT. B Dub is a lock.
Update: Pod’s projection went down and Lauri is back, so I’m souring on Nurkic. Curry projects like a god. Kon’s projection went down but he’s cheap and in a smash spot. B-Dub is too cheap and if Flagg sits he could be a smash. Kolek is a must if Brunson sits and he starts.
Nurk is Q so we’ll need to keep an eye on him. I also am curious to see if his projection dips. It is obscene at the moment, but he’s been crushing and Lauri is out. If he starts he looks like an awesome spend.
Pod was bad without Curry last game, but he is going to have usage sans Butler and he faces Utah tonight. They make everyone look like a Hall of Famer, so given the price and usage, he is an easy click.
Charlotte guys are all too cheap for a date with Memphis. Their minutes have been getting yanked around, but Kon is the best point per dollar options of the lot. He’s also really cheap and in a smash spot.
B-Will is value I wouldn’t mind getting away from, but right now he looks fantastic. He’s too cheap and is the 2nd best projecting Mavs player. Minnesota is a tough draw, so I won’t be sad to seek out something a little more stable.
ANT is Q so Minnesota guys could open up and it could be a Bones Hyland night, if so. Luka also exists. He is expensive, but obviously getting to him should be on our minds. Curry gets the Jazz, too, while Jaylen, Jalen, Spida, Banchero, and Siakam are all in good spots or simply offer elite ceilings. Wemby and Sengun cap things off and almost certainly won’t be owned.
Cleveland is down Evan Mobley, so we can look at Cavs guys and seek value there if we so choose. I think the core plays we’re starting with look better than anything there, but it’s pretty close. IE, if everyone is playing Pod, we can consider paying $300 more for Jaylon Tyson.
FanDuel NBA DFS Core Plays
- Pascal Siakam ($8.5k)
- Brandon Williams ($5.6k)
- Steph Curry ($9.2k)
Update: I am not looking at any studs over $10k on FD. Curry and Siakam look like total smashes, so that is where I’d start in terms of spending. Kolek is a must if Brunson is out and he starts. Fade if not. B Dub remains one of the better values but looks even better if Cooper is out.
Luka is harder to fit in on FD. There may be enough value to get there, but at almost $13k and with plenty of other spends available, I don’t think it’s a must. Curry stands out as the top spend on FD and he may be the way to go on both sites. He has the 4th best projection of the slate and ties for the 9th highest salary = value.
Pod is still a core play here. Too cheap, solid role, and in a smash spot. I also like that he can be used at both PG and SG. B-Will is PG only, so he does force some decisions a bit. I’d also consider locking in Nurk at C, but that’s the only spot we can use him. There are some appealing center values and some center studs, though, so I won’t lock your lineup up. He’s a great play if he’s in, though.
Tyson is a good play on both sites, but a bit cheaper on FD and is G/F eligible. That makes him stand out a little more there than on DraftKings.
I like the idea of targeting Curry/Jaylen on FD, or if active you can replace Jaylen with Nurk. I won’t be wasting my time with the guys north of $10k there.
