Tuesday’s WNBA DFS slate comes down to what you do with Alyssa Thomas. Teammate Satou Sabally remains a really nice value after the top studs, and Thomas is insanely expensive at $13k.
However, Thomas blows everyone away in terms of projection and offers the highest ceiling. If you fade her you’re definitely going to get a safer and more appealing lineup, but you’d be sacrificing a shot at 60 fantasy points – something she’s broached four times over her last 8 games. It’s also not something anyone on this slate can bring to the table.
Pick your lane, but I tend to think on a two-game, Thomas is rather necessary. With that, let’s dive into my top WNBA DFS picks for Tuesday at DraftKings.
Alyssa Thomas, F, Phoenix Mercury ($13k)
If you don’t want to pay $13k and prefer a more balanced build, I don’t blame you. But it’s a 2-game slate and the next closest projection is light years (11 fps) away.
Thomas isn’t always going to get there as a scorer, but she is a triple-double waiting to happen and has routinely delivered. She’s coming off a big 58-point fantasy outing, for starts.
I already mentioned how frequently she is flirting with slate-breaking upside, and I don’t expect that to change against the Sparks. The best part? We actually have a nice punt that opens up so much cash that fading Alyssa Thomas feels silly.
Shey Peddy, G, Indiana Fever ($4k)
Is Peddy a super reliable play? No, but she did just sign her second 7-day contract with the Fever and Caitlin Clark remains out. Oh, and she just popped off for 16 real points in just 18 minutes in her last game.
Peddy appears to have a role we can trust, as she’s logged 18+ minutes in seven straight contests. Indy is down a contributor in Sophie Cunningham, too, so that burn shouldn’t be going anywhere as the Fever try to decide if this should be a rest-of-the-season hire.
She’s also just $4k. There is risk involved, but she’s dirt cheap, has a role, and helps us comfortably get to the best player on the slate.
Brittney Sykes, G, Seattle Storm ($7.9k)
You can argue for other studs or some second tier plays, but before I get there I want to go grab Sykes, who is a little too cheap for the solid role she has.
Sykes is getting consistent minutes, with a huge 35-point blowout win being the only time she’s dipped below 30 minutes (or 20 fantasy points) in her last five games.
I don’t mind getting to Sabally or Skylar Diggins, but Sykes is the better play when you look at minutes, projection, and P/$ value.
This WNBA DFS core leaves you with roughly $8.3k left per player for your last three slots. You can open up more salary with values like Akoa Makani or Rae Burrell, or go balanced the rest of the way.
FanDuel Core
- Plum
- Peddy
- Boston
Once again, I am fine fading the most expensive player on FD. You need an extra player over there, and paying up for Thomas stretches you a bit too thin for my liking.
Peddy still stands out as the best value on the slate, and I’d go get one of the top Sparks players (preferably Plum) and pair them with Aliyah Boston. Kelsey Mitchell, Hamby, and Sabally (in that order) all look like solid spends as well.
