NFL Preseason DFS Picks – Friday (8/22)

The 2025 NFL Preseason is winding down. I handed out NFL Preseason DFS picks for Thursday’s two-game slate and had some hits – namely Jaxson Dart and Fidone – and hopefully you enjoyed some success.

Friday’s slate is a bit more appealing with four games, though we don’t have much more clarity than we did last night. That said, there is money to be made, so let’s take a look at the top plays for the slate.

Joe Milton III, QB, Dallas Cowboys

May god have mercy on my NFL DFS Preseason soul. I can’t quit Milton, as he is dripping with raw athletic ability, and this slate is also booty at quarterback.

Milton has been bad in preseason play this year, but it only takes one game for him to make me look smart. Just based on his rushing floor and likely playing time (probably 2+ Qs), he looks like a great play.

Pivots include Easton Stick and Adrian Martinez (in that order).

Ian Wheeler, RB, Chicago Bears

There are a few running backs looking at some solid work for this slate. Wheeler is perhaps the best one. He could be owned after scoring two touchdowns last game, but the workload and talent make me not really GAF.

His viability does depend on what CHI does with their top RBs. Two of them are banged up (most notably Monangai) and I doubt Swift plays much (if at all). If that holds true, the explosive Wheeler is the top RB play of the slate.

Pivots include Dovan Edwards, Nate Carter, Brashard Smith, Brittain Brown, Zavier Scott, and Carson Steele.

Dylan Drummond, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Teammate Chris Blair also looks really good and had a big game last week.

You can use them both, but Drummond has been targeted a ton and he crushed two weeks ago. I wouldn’t be shocked to see things rotate back his way and that’s something I’ll take a chance on if recency bias has people more into Blair.

Other solid plays include Blair, Darius Cooper, and Elic Ayomanor.

Gunnar Helm, TE, Tennessee Titans

Tight end is a wasteland on this slate. I mentioned the athletic Joshua Simon and some other guys, but nobody feels better or safer than Helm.

The Titans drafted him early, so it’s always possible they protect him and limit him to close out the preseason. He was active and productive last week, though, so I’ll take my chances.

Other options include Simon, Chig, Tonyan, and Wiley.
