Happy MLK Day! There are a couple of crappy early slates, but we’re here to talk about the 4-game main slate featuring no shortage of Eastern Conference Slop. I’ll be here to hand out some NBA DFS picks to build winning lineups around, with the main focus being tonight’s four-game main slate at DraftKings.
I’ve got NBA core plays for both DK and FanDuel, of course, so let’s dive into the plays you probably want in your lineups at both sites.
DraftKings NBA Core Plays (Updated 6:12 ET)
- Kelly Oubre Jr.
- Stephen Curry
- Moses Moody
- Tyrese Maxey
Embiid is officially questionable for the Sixers tonight, though I lean toward him sitting out. It’s the first game of the night, so we’ll have the news. I’m currently playing for him to be out. That opens up tons of usage for both Tyrese Maxey and Paul George, while I’d expect Bona to start in Embiid’s spot, as Drummond has seemingly been banished to C3 on the depth chart.
Bona is $3,600 in an elite matchup against a Pacers team with no semblance of a rim protector. They’re also the 3rd-worst rebounding team in the NBA. If Drummond starts, I’ll play him over Bona, though they’d both be viable at such cheap salaries. I think Maxey and PG are both excellent plays. I give the edge to Maxey.
The Heat will be without Herro again, while Davion and Jaquez will return. Jaquez is only $5,400 on DK with SG/SF eligibility, which. makes him very easy to jam into lineups. GSW is a team that really struggles to defend on-ball and protect the paint, which bodes quite well for Jaquez, who does most of his damage driving to the bucket.
FanDuel NBA Core Plays (Updated 6:15 ET)

- Kelly Oubre Jr.
- Tyrese Maxey
- VJ Edgecombe
I think you can play Bona on FD at $3,900 especially on a slate without much opportunity cost at center. I’d really lean into the wings and guards here, as they’re all underpriced with pretty good positional eligibility on FD. Edgecombe at SG/SF at $6,700 looks like an underpay, and he and Maxey typically push for 40 minutes every night.
