There was a huge WNBA DFS slate yesterday and another one is coming on Sunday. You know what that means; Showdown time!
I hate it as much as you all do, but if DraftKings is offering a showdown contest, we may as well consider trying to take advantage of it. To help you do that, I’ll walk you through my preferred Captain picks:
Captain Plays: Ionescu, Jones, Williams, McBride, and Meesseman
These are the top CPT plays. Napheesa Collier is doubtful and we already know Breanna Stewart is out. While Sabrina Ionescu has really not delivered lately with Stewart sidelined (under 30 fps in 4 of last 5), she is still very much in play – especially if everyone else is sick of using her.
If you don’t want to go that route, Jonquel Jones looks great. She’s been the safer play, registering 30+ fps in each of her last three contests.
On the Minnesota side, we have a lot of options with a high-usage player like Collier sitting. Courtney Williams will have the ball in her hands more, and she could offer triple-double upside if she is feeling it as a scorer.
Kayla McBride is far more volatile than Williams, but she’s also cheaper and we know she can get hot from long range. The minutes are there, so she is very much worth a shot.
My favorite play, though, is going to be Emma Meesseeman. Her price keeps coming up, but that’s only because she keeps playing so well. The minutes are very reliable right now with Stewart out, as she’s seen 31+ in four straight and has turned that floor time into 41+ fps in three of those.
We can save a little cash and not sacrifice production by sliding her into CPT and building from there.
Carrington is OK if you want to save a little more cash, while I am not particularly high on any of the true punts for this slate.
