You probably needed Sengun to do anything last night. I loved him and if you caught our video breakdown, he was my stud of choice. He was chalky, but Joel Embiid was terrible by comparison, and he had more fantasy points than anyone.
Tuesday is another day, and the slate is much bigger. I’ll go over my top plays at both DraftKings and FanDuel, highlight the most stackable game of the night, and once again reveal my favorite spends for the slate. Let’s build!
NBA DFS Core Plays for 2/2
| DraftKings Core Plays | FanDuel Core Plays |
| Bam Adebayo ($8.4k) | Isaiah Collier ($6.2k) |
| Jay Huff ($4.3k) | Jay Huff ($4.9k) |
| Isaiah Collier ($6.2k) | Bam Adebayo ($8.4k) |
Update 5: QJ out, Huff in. QJ is still playable but not safe since he’s not starting. Love Huff/Walker. We can try out Jones or Sheppard, but they’re risky. The rest stays.
Update 4: Switching from KAT to Bam, but I love both. Bam grades out slightly better and should get more usage in an equally great spot. Utah only has 8 guys. Collier is the lock, but you can definitely play up to 4 of them. QJ is too cheap with Indy down a bunch of guys. I’d start with this core at both sites. Luka is the best spend, but the 2nd tier is loaded. In massive GPPs I’d get to him. In smaller contests I like going balanced around Utah/Indy/CHI plays.
Update 3: Utah just traded like 5 guys. They should be very thin. I may add more Jazz to the Core, but QJ also projects very well and the Pacers will also be pretty thin. QJ and Collier are locks. I’d be working to get Jazz/Pacers into my lineups as well, but be selective.
Update 2: Pacers are sitting everyone. They are going to be incredibly shorthanded. This update is tentative provided what the projections are and what value opens up, but considering the usage bumps and matchup, Indy value is going to look very good.
Update: Removed Portis since he got the mid-day Q tag. If he’s out Rollins/Kuz/Myles get a big bump at both sites.
It’s early so I will start with KAT, Cam Thomas, and Mathurin.
I am not super into Pacers since they played last night, but they’re at home and in a smash spot against Utah. With Pascal and Nembhard’s prices still being a bit steep, I will just hang back and play a still too cheap Mathurin. He logged 34 minutes last night, so assuming he isn’t randomly rested, he looks like an amazing value in a terrific matchup.
KAT has been super weak, but there’s no better cure for bigs than a date with the Wizards. Towns is cheap enough and the matchup is so good that I don’t mind risking it. Brunson is also in play, but Towns could feast inside and feels like the better option.
This is a big slate and I have some interest some of the top studs, but the 2nd tier is loaded. Guys like Lauri, Vuc, the Bucks, Bam – the list goes on. There are a lot of really nice plays, and so far not enough elite value. Luka, Cade, Jalen, SGA, and even Jokic are always worth discussing, but if I paid for anyone right now I think Jalen is the stand out.
We will see what ownership looks like later in the day and I’ll update the core after our full video breakdown.
Isaiah Collier is a really good play on both sites. He’s very close to a core play for me on DK, but definitely a core play on FD. Bobby is still a bit too cheap on FanDuel. Ryan Rollins and Myles Turner also look good there. They’re a bit too pricey to put as core plays on DraftKings, but I’m still very pro-Bucks on this slate.
Top NBA DFS Stacking Environment for Tuesday
- Jazz vs. Pacers (236.5 total)
- Hawks vs. Heat (240.5 total)
- Bulls vs. Bucks (223.5 total)
I like three spots for stacking on this big slate. There are more, but based on game total and pace, these are the most inviting. They’re especially interesting because some of the players in these games are great options, but won’t be super owned.
Utah guys might pull some ownership, but the rest could go overlooked due to pricing. That’s particularly true for the Bucks, who still look fantastic even at elevated price tags. Ryan Rollins, Bobby Portis, and Myles Turner all look awesome and especially so if nobody else wants to play them.
That Bulls vs. Bucks game might be my favorite spot of the slate to aggressively attack. The lower total and raised salaries should keep people away, but the Bulls play fast and neither defense is any good. I think a shootout is very possible.
Best NBA DFS Spends for 2/3
- Luka Doncic
- Jalen Johnson
- Jaylen Brown
The Nets will probably trap Luka like crazy and Austin Reaves could be back, but if we want pure raw points he remains the best player to target. I do think Jalen/Jaylen are superior values if you’re spending up top. Getting 50+ fantasy points is never a lock from anyone, but I think they’re good bets to do that and they are cheaper than Luka/Jokic/SGA.
Cade is also viable and he is cheaper than Jalen Johnson. All of these guys are in play, but Jokic is not really on my radar until he’s no longer limited. As things stand, I don’t yet feel compelled to force any of these guys into my lineup. I’d need more value to open up to feel good about doing that.
Instead, I think getting pieces to those games I mentioned – along with my core – is the better path.
