Isaac TeSlaa was an exciting player in 2025. The Detroit Lions rookie receiver had solid athletic traits and turned his size and athleticism into six touchdowns. The Lions also traded up to get him, signaling they thought highly of him and may have a long-term plan for their young wideout.
Fast forward to 2026, and it’s fair to wonder if Detroit will make an effort to get its talented receiver even more work. Of course, it’s important to temper expectations, seeing as the Lions have several other pass-catchers that rank ahead of TeSlaa in regards to priority.
Should you draft Isaac TeSlaa? It’s a complicated question, as he’s definitely a good player with an intriguing ceiling. Why Fantasy Managers Are Interested
The excitement around TeSlaa stems from his measurables and a productive rookie season in which he turned just 16 grabs into six scores. That rate is understandably not sustainable, but it still put his talent and potential production on full display.
Here’s a quick rundown of what makes everyone drool over this dude:
- Elite size at 6-foot-4, 214 pounds
- Outstanding athletic profile (9.93 RAS score), including a 4.43-second 40-yard dash
- Exceptional explosion numbers at the NFL Combine
- Strong yards-after-catch ability

The combination of size and athleticism is the big draw here. TeSlaa is making everyone wonder what he can do with serious volume, as he’s going to be bigger, stronger, and faster than a lot of the guys trying to stop him.
Perhaps his biggest advantage due to this combo, however, is his contested catch rate. Much like everything in his profile, the sample size is absurdly small. But a 55.6% contested catch rate still tied for 6th last year.
All of this works together to make TeSlaa a very interesting player. There are some lingering questions, though.
The Opportunity in Detroit
The main roadblock for TeSlaa isn’t talent. It’s opportunity. He didn’t get a ton of chances to show what he could do last year, and while he did well when called upon, it’s fair to guess he opportunities could again be limited in year two.
In fact, just look at the time frame when he was most productive. Of his six touchdowns, four came with star tight end Sam Laporta had already been shutdown for the year with a back injury.
TeSlaa doesn’t have a clear path to a big jump in volume. Not only LaPorta holds him back, but the Lions have staples like possession beast Amon-Ra St. Brown and explosive burner James Williams.
It does appear that TeSlaa has settled into the WR3 role and will see the field more consistently, but he’s still low in the pecking order. Detroit’s weaponry makes for a great offense where he could still get efficient looks, but the lack of volume may continue to ground his potential.
Isaac TeSlaa’s 2026 Redraft Outlook
TeSlaa is nothing more than a late-round stash in redraft leagues. The good news is he costs nothing to roll the dice on. However, he almost definitely needs an injury to one of Detroit’s top three receiving options to return serious value.
The Lions also have Jahmyr Gibbs, who they have promised to ride even harder than usual, both as a rusher and a receiver. That means even if Detroit goes more pass-happy, Gibbs will be another guy that eats before TeSlaa does.
In a volume game like fantasy football, TeSlaa simply doesn’t have the numbers to support an exciting case. I do think he’s a fun stash if you have deep rosters, and he’s also leverage against (or a handcuff to) Sun God or Jammo in the event either get hurt.
The risk is low, and so is the cost. But just don’t draft TeSlaa with the hopes of him breaking out unless an injury occurs.
Isaac TeSlaa’s Dynasty Outlook
Despite already being 24, TeSlaa is a much more appealing buy in dynasty leagues. For one, his profile is ambiguous enough to the point where some owners may be ready to sell him for whatever they can get.
This is true despite TeSlaa having an elite profile and being one big injury away from possibly being a difference-maker. Due to deeper rosters, Isaac TeSlaa’s dynasty outlook is much easier to stomach, regardless of how optimistic you are.
The reality is you’re not assuming much risk for a guy that costs a late 2nd or early 3rd to acquire. Just make sure you’re not giving up more than that, and also make sure you have the roster space and depth to afford stashing a guy who may not help your squad.
Should You Draft Isaac TeSlaa in 2026?
Isaac TeSlaas’s fantasy value is attached to good fortune. The athletic traits and production make him worth stashing in all formats, but with the caveat that you don’t overpay or expect much out of him.
If he’s one of your last picks and you have a deeper than usual bench in redraft, I’m fine with taking him. I am more into rostering him in dynasty, however, as roster limitations aren’t as severe and it’s not as crucial for him to be an impact player for you right away.
