Hopefully everyone enjoyed the NBA Cup. Congrats to the New York Knicks on their mid-season title. It was a pretty good game overall, and some of our advice for the DraftKings Showdown contest was spot on.
I didn’t see OG going full nuke mode, but someone in our Discord did have him in their Captain spot. It’s onto the next one, though, and we get a two-game slate on Wednesday night. Let’s see who made the cut with a look at the top NBA DFS picks I’ll be building around at DraftKings and FanDuel:
DraftKings NBA DFS Core Plays
- Darius Garland ($6.8k)
- Jarrett Allen ($6k)
- Bones Hyland ($4.8k)
- Vince Williams ($4.9k)
Update 2: Hyland enters the core with ANT ruled out. He started last game and logged 35 minutes (30 fps). His price has come up, but assuming he starts, he is a tough fade. Minnesota guys all get a boost. Love Donte, Jaden, Julius, Rudy, and Naz. I’d still probably get to Spida as the top spend. Julius ownership is probably going to split with Mitchell now, causing Giddey to go further overlooked.
Update: Rudy still looks good but Vince is a much bigger priority with Ja doubtful.
Evan Mobley is out, so the top Cavs guys look good. We can also entertain Cleveland value, but I won’t force it as far as the Core goes. Garland isn’t limited too much anymore and projects well for his price. I also don’t mind Jarrett Allen, but he should be pretty capped. Spida looks great as a spend but his price is up there.
Santi has a nice role with Zach Edey dead. Ja Morant is Q and Cam Spencer is OUT. If Morant is sidelined, we will def circle back to Grizzlies guys in this one. I’ll stick with Santi for now, as he started the last game and would be a rock solid play despite a less than ideal matchup.
Rudy Gobert is a little too cheap for a favorable spot. I can see moving off of him if he’s chalky, but there’s not much else calling to me yet. Jarrett Allen is a clear pivot, but if they’re both owned or Allen is more owned, Rudy isn’t limited, so he feels like the easy play.
In addition to Ja news, we are waiting on ANT news.
FanDuel NBA DFS Core Plays
- Vince Williams ($4.1k)
- Cedric Coward ($5.6k)
- Garland ($7.2k)
- Bones Hyland ($5k)
- Santi ($6.5k)
Update 2: Don’t love that Bones is PG only on FD, but $5k is too cheap. I am locking these guys all in. Just need to find a way to get really different around them.
Update: Vince is a lock with Ja likely out (Doubtful). Nothing else changes for now.
I’ll use Garland and Santi at FD as well. Coby is similar to Garland and he’s a little too cheap. His minutes are coming back up and getting 1-2 Bulls as comebacks from Cavs guys makes sense anyways.
Coward is a fine play at both sites, but is going to stand out more at FD since he can be used at G/F and we need to fill an extra slot. Due to the slate size and lack of value, I prefer to play at DraftKings tonight. That said, I think the soft pricing on FD makes for a really safe build if you fade the top stars.
