WNBA DFS Picks – Core Plays & Values for Wednesday, 7/29

wnba dfs picks wednesday 7/29

The WNBA slows way down on Wednesday night, as DraftKings features a tiny 2-game main slate. That’s to be expected after a huge 5-gamer slate last night, but we’ll try to aim you in a winning direction, just the same.

Yesterday’s WNBA Core was Quite Good, as Sonia Citron was one of the best plays of the slate, and Breanna Stewart beasted out. I’ll walk you through the best WNBA DFS picks to build around for tonight, and also shed some light on some tourney pivots and values. Let’s build!

WNBA DFS Core for Wednesday

  • Jessica Shepard ($11.3k)
  • Naz Hillmon ($6.8k)
  • Veronica Burton ($8.7k)

This slate is bad! The cool thing is we do have some really nice studs up top. The slate is tiny and lacks elite value, though, so I think a one-stud build could be in play. I certainly wouldn’t go after more than two. Due to liking that approach, Shepard stands out as the first spend to target.

Shepard is cheaper than both Alyssa Thomas and Angel Reese, and she’s just as safe with arguably a similar ceiling. I also prefer her to teammate Paige Bueckers, as she’s a less volatile DFS performer. She gives us a clear path to a double-double, and enters the night with the second best overall projection.

Naz Hillmon could be the top mid-range play of the slate. Her floor can be low, but our tool has her in the #1 lineup and she grades out as the top overall WNBA DFS value. On top of that, she’s two games from dropping 24 points, and last game she played 34 minutes. The role is really good for the price.

Burton is more expensive, but she’s a pretty nice value compared to the top options. Golden State doesn’t always run their best players into the ground, but she could get a boost if Gabby Williams (Questionable) can’t suit up.

Burton pulls into this slate with a rock solid fantasy projection, which ranks her tied for 5th going into the night. I’ll take my chances with her at this price, as the alternatives either project worse and/or cost way more.

Simulations can improve DFS lineups and our tool is definitely one you’ll want to give a try. Don’t take our word for it, though. See what one of our happy users has to say about it before giving it a spin (just $7 for the first week).

Best WNBA Fantasy Picks for Tournaments (7/29)

  • Paige Bueckers ($11.1k)
  • Alyssa Thomas ($11.5k)

Bueckers may not actually end up being super contrarian due to the slate size. In fact, she enters tonight as our tool’s top projecting stud. But other options like Shepard, Reese, and Thomas do appear to be safer spends, which would have her go somewhat overlooked.

We know Bueckers can heat up as a scorer and playmaker, so I’d play her based on where the slate goes. I prefer Shepard in terms of reliability, but if everyone is playing Shepard and/or Reese, we can entertain a lesser owned Bueckers for sure.

The story is similar for Thomas, who can be a triple-double threat when she’s dialed in. If her ownership is going to go down due to her studly counterparts, I’ll have interest. Her salary and a date with the Valkyries impacts the field’s exposure. But I am only excited to play her if she’ll be contrarian.

Wednesday’s Top WNBA DFS Value Picks

  • Kaila Charles ($5.8k)
  • Li Yueru ($3.6k)

Charles looks like the most obvious value play. She’s a fine lower mid-range play no matter what, but she really gains steam if Gabby Williams is ruled out. Charles has a low projection, but she’s slated to push for 20+ minutes even if Williams is active. If Gabby sits, Charles may turn into a core play on this slate.

Want to go deep diving? Yueru is the most viable true punt on tonight’s WNBA DFS slate. I don’t love it, but she’s very cheap and could have a path to 15-20 minutes. There are enough studs to entertain a deep sleeper pick like this, but it’s not my preferred strategy.
