NFL Cash Picks
We’re back!! I can’t believe the NFL is here already. This article will get you ready for the first week of cash plays.
If you don’t know what cash picks are, let me explain. Cash plays are all about high-floor plays that can help you win 50/50s, double-ups, and head-to-heads. We’re trying to target more chalky lineups here. It’s also a good way to help manage your bankroll. Personally, I use my cash winnings to fund my tournament entries.
QB
Justin Herbert
I know it’s tough to trust the Chargers, but they brought in a new OC in McDaniel. We all saw what he did in Miami, so I’m definitely looking to gamble on Herbert against one of the worst defensive units in the Cardinals.
Tyler Shough
This is a great matchup for the second-year QB, and the price is right. Shough flashed last year, and he can run a bit as well. Detroit’s secondary is decimated, so Shough should thrive here.
RB
Jahmyr Gibbs
Gibbs now has the Lions’ backfield to himself, with no real threat of the backups stealing touches. Gibbs should be the most-owned player on the slate, and I wouldn’t fade him.
Saquon Barkley
I like Barkley quite a bit this year. The Eagles have a new OC, and Brown is gone. The price is great for a dual-threat RB in an amazing matchup against one of the worst defenses in the league.
MarShawn Lloyd
With Jacobs’ legal trouble, Lloyd becomes the next man up. I have to be honest here: I don’t love the matchup, and I’m not even sure he gets the full workload. He has a good price, though, and definitely has some potential. He will definitely be owned.
WR
Ja’Marr Chase
Chase and Gibbs are the two plays that are locks for me this week. He has a solid matchup in one of the highest game totals on the slate. Just plug and play.
Chris Olave & Devaughn Vele
Saints vs. Lions is another high-total game this week, and as I said above, the Lions’ secondary is decimated. Both players should be owned. Shough basically has three targets to throw to.
Garrett Wilson
I know some people might hate this pick, and honestly, it’s probably warranted, but Wilson is a target monster. He should thrive against the Titans here.
TE
Juwan Johnson
I guess at this point you can see I like the Saints this week. Johnson is one of three reliable targets in what should be a high-scoring game.
Michael Mayer
This is the most obvious play at TE this week. With Bowers out for a few weeks, Mayer will take the lead spot at TE. Another play I wouldn’t avoid.
DST
Jaguars
Typically, I like to pay down for defense, but I feel the need to mention the Jags, who get the Browns.
Steelers
They weren’t originally on my radar, but with questions about who is going to start at QB for the Falcons, this could be a decent spot.
Jets
Paying down for defense is usually where I want to be. Yes, I know it’s the Jets, who are still looking for an interception since last year, but the Titans haven’t looked great this preseason. Really, this is just a price play.
